June 12, 2006 Add comment

In connection with the visit of the Melbourne Staff Band to this territory an Interdivisional Musicians Councils will be held in Toronto on Saturday, September 30, 2006.

The unique approach of this fine band has inspired a theme for the day which will be "Innovations in Music Ministry". The morning session will be spent in worship with both the CSB and MSB offering musical support. The afternoon sessions will highlight reports, success stories, and practical information about creative ways music is being utilized for the advancement of local mission. The afternoon will be spent highlighting some of the excellent new ideas that are proving life-giving in this area: Baby Song, Keychange Prison Ministry, Winterberry Heights after school music program, Jr. Impact Brass (OGL), GTA Community Choir, Melbourne Staff Band and their 'Blast' routine.

Councils will be held at Yorkminster Citadel on Saturday, September 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a luncheon meal and morning coffee provided. Fee $25. All musicians participating in Salvation Army ministry will be eligible to attend. As an added bonus, the Melbourne and Canadian Staff Bands will be in concert together that same evening at the Toronto Centre for the Arts on Yonge St., North York. Tickets available separately.
