Kim Garreffa




A third generation Salvationist, Kim was born in Oakville, but raised in Saskatoon and Calgary, where she completed her Grade 10 Conservatory in piano and obtained a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Calgary.

1985-1986 she toured full time with an Edmonton-based Christian contemporary band called Morning Star, performing in cities and towns across western Canada and the north-western States. Morning Star also recorded two albums that year.

She has done well in several song-writing competitions, including winning the Territorial Song-writing competition in 1999, which led to her current position in the music department at THQ as Contemporary Music Consultant.

She and her husband Rocco have been active at Cornerstone Church (formerly Meadowvale Corps) in Mississauga since 1991, where Kim has been worship leader since 1995.

Kim’s contribution to the the MAGA team includes:

  1. Resourcing contemporary worship bands and creative worship services.
 
  2. Overseeing CCLI Licensing for the Territory
 
  3. Overseeing the annual Christmas CD project
 
  4. Leading seminars on prayer and creative worship at places such as Brengle Institute, CFOT, Divisional/corps retreats and camp settings. 
 
  5. Creating multi-media for various THQ and National Camp events
 
  6. Editing and writing for E-Worship, MAGA’s online worship newsletter.
 
  7. Song writing for themed events such as sessional songs and conferences. 
 
  8. Arranging of music for worship bands and choral groups.
 
  9. Specialing, including worship leading, solos and guest speaking
